Feb 09, 2022 (AB Digital via COMTEX) — PT Mobil Anak Bangsa (MAB) was established as an act of supporting the Government’s program in the General Plan of the National Energy of the Republic of Indonesia, following the Government’s commitment through the memorandum of understanding signing in The 21st Climate Change Conference held in Paris, France in 2015 (Paris Protocol).

MAB is the first Indonesian company which obtains a license from the Ministry of Transportation to produce electric buses in Indonesia.

According to MAB Founder Mr. General TNI (Retired), Dr. Moeldoko Indonesia has some unique advantages to lead in manufacturing electric vehicles.

Indonesia has unique natural resources needed to produce batteries, such as:

  • Indonesia mines 168,000 tons of copper every year.
  • It has 25% of global nickel reserves. It also produces 219,000 tons of Aluminum yearly.
  • Indonesia manganese ore is one of the highest grade manganese ores available on the market. And it has a vast Cobalt reserve.

Indonesia’s market is excellent and very promising. In terms of economics, Indonesia is the 4th largest population country. Automotive sales in 2018 were 1.3 million units. Buses and trucks account for 9% of the sales. The bus market average is about 4,000 units per year. Trans Jakarta, the regulatory body for public transportation in Jakarta, plans to replace 10 thousand of its fleet with electric buses by 2030. The transport authority in Jakarta Greater Area (BPTJ) alone has plans for 41 thousand electric vehicles (EV) bus units for the next few years.

Moreover, Indonesia has environmental momentum with its commitment through the memorandum of understanding signed at the 21st Climate Change Conference held in Paris, France, in 2015.

A significant milestone regarding regulation for this industry is the passing into law in October 2019 of Presidential Decree No 55/2019 for Acceleration of Battery Electric Vehicle Program for Road Transportation.

    Dear Sir/Madam.
We are in the process of decarbonising the fleet of 80 buses at RHT Bs Ltd in Mauritius.
The new 20 EVs will join the two Zhong Tong EVs being operated since 2019.
We are interested in high chassis EVs to suit some of the route road conditions etc.
Grateful to connect with the Technical team to see the specs and offers.
    With thanks and regards.
    B.Rajkoomar.
